Mercedes College Dux
Part 1
To qualify for consideration of the Dux (and Proxime Accessit), a student needs to be studying a minimum of 5 ATAR subjects. In these subjects she needs to have achieved a minimum of 4 ‘A’ grades. None of her other grades in the remainder of her subjects can be below a ‘C’.
Part 2
Qualifying students are ranked across 5 measures:
· Total number of ATAR subject prizes won
· Average standardised (z) score for their top 5 ATAR subjects
· Grades across their top 5 ATAR subjects
· Average subject score across their top 5 ATAR subjects
· Average cohort rank across their top 5 ATAR subjects
Part 3
These rankings are averaged and the student with the best average rank will be declared the Dux (2nd best will be awarded the Proxime Accessit).
Any ties will be resolved by reviewing the above rankings separately (in the order listed) until there is a difference between the candidates.
Note: All calculations are based on the data uploaded to SCSA for WACE calculations.
