Prerequisites

If students do not meet the prerequisite in Semester 1 of Year 10, they are not able to select the course via our ONLINE COURSE SELECTION PROCESS. However, an interview with a member of the course counselling team can be arranged for the beginning of Term 3. For the course selection timeline please click HERE.

Religion & Life ATAR 65% in Religious Education as well as 60% in Mainstream English or 50% in ACE or Extended English
Accounting and Finance ATAR There are no prerequisites, however, a minimum C grade in General Mathematics and a 50% exam mark is recommended
Applied Information Technology ATAR There are no prerequisites. Students can still achieve high success in the course even if they have not continued on with Digital Technologies subjects in Years 9 and 10.
Biology ATAR Required: Minimum C grade in Year 10 ACE or Advanced Science or B in General Science.

Recommended: Minimum C grade in Year 10 ACE or Advanced Science or A in General Science

Chemistry ATAR Required: Minimum C grade in Year 10 ACE or Advanced Science or A grade in General Science with excellent results in all Chemistry assessments.

Recommended: Minimum B grade in Year 10 ACE or Advanced Science. Similar results in Year 10 Extended Mathematics course or an A grade in General Mathematics

Design ATAR 60% in Mainstream English and B in Design or Visual Arts

If you have not studied Design or Visual Arts in Year 10, you may still be accepted into this course with high results from Year 7-9 Art or Design. Please contact Ms Hosking (Art Co-ordinator) to discuss your individual case.

Dance ATAR 60% in Mainstream English and audition required
Drama ATAR 60% in Mainstream English
Economics ATAR 60% in the Economics topic within Year 10 Social Sciences.
English ATAR 60% in Year 10 English Mainstream Coursework AND 60% in Semester 1 Examination.

ACE English students must achieve 50% in Year 10 ACE English Coursework AND 50% in Semester 1 Examination.

Students also need to have successfully completed Reading and Writing OLNA.

French: Second Language ATAR 65% or a B in French

The SCSA requires all students intending to enrol in a WACE language course to complete an online application for permission to enrol. Students who choose this subject will be asked to complete this form during their Yr 10 Language class.

Geography ATAR 60% in the Geography topic within Year 10 Social Sciences.
Human Biology ATAR Required: Minimum C grade in Year 10ACE or Advanced Science or B in General Science.

Recommended: Minimum C grade in Year 10 ACE or Advanced Science or A in General Science.

Italian: Second Language ATAR 65% or a B in Italian

Literature ATAR 65% in Year 10 ACE English OR 75% in Year 10 Mainstream English
Mathematics Applications ATAR Any grade from ACE or Extended Mathematics OR B grade from General Mathematics
Mathematics Methods ATAR Any grade from ACE Mathematics or B grade from Extended Mathematics
Mathematics Specialist ATAR C grade from ACE Mathematics or A grade from Extended Mathematics
Media Production & Analysis ATAR 60% in Mainstream English
Modern History ATAR 60% in the History topic within Year 10 Social Sciences.
Music ATAR 60% in Mainstream English Students will need to show good practical skills  equivalent to AMEB Grade 5 by the end of Year 10. It is an expectation that students will be engaged in an instrument lesson in Year 11/12.
Physical Education Studies ATAR Required: B grade in Year 10 Physical Education and General Science

Recommended: Shown potential in all aspects of the Year 10 Physical Education course

Physics ATAR Required: Minimum C grade in ACE/Advanced Science or an A in General Science and any grade in ACE/Extension Mathematics or a B grade in General Mathematics.

Recommended: B grade in ACE/Advanced Science and a C grade in Mathematics ACE/Extension

Politics and Law ATAR 60% in the Politics and Law topic within Year 10 Social Sciences.
Psychology ATAR

Required: Minimum C grade in Year 10 ACE or Advanced Science or B in General Science and B Grade in mainstream English

Recommended: Minimum C grade in Year 10 ACE or Advanced Science or A in General Science and B Grade in mainstream English

Visual Arts ATAR 60% Mainstream English and B Year 10 Visual Arts or Design NOTE: If you have not studied Design or Visual Arts in Year 10, you may still be accepted into this course with high results from Year 7-9 Art or Design.
