The Psychology General course will introduce students to psychological knowledge which supports an understanding of the way individuals and groups function. Students learn about well-known psychological models and theories, and the methods used to conduct scientific investigations in the discipline of psychology. They will explore the major ideas related to personality, cognition, communication, culture and values. The study of Psychology involves the collection and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data as well as considering the ethics of psychological research. Students will be asked to interpret descriptive data and apply it to tables, graphs and diagrams in order to distinguish patterns and draw conclusions. The study of Psychology is highly relevant to further studies in the health professions; education, human resources, social sciences, sales, media and marketing and management.
- Please note that some concepts studied in this course may be confronting for some students.

Psychology is the perfect subject for those interested in learning about the human mind and behaviour. My favourite part of the subject is that the topics we cover, such as personality and relational influences, can be easily transferred and applied to everyday life. I’ve loved learning more about myself, others, and the world, and I would highly recommend this subject to those interested in these areas as well. – Marysia Crisafio, Class of 2024
